  • According to the weather man it is going to be a scorcher today – close to 100F – 34C

Feeling much better today – the antibiotics kicked in great – I took off early in the day (after my cup of coffeee lol) to check on my daughter’s place and water her garden. I had received a call last night from her house sitter that poor Sid

Sid July 2006sm looked like he was dying, and what could they do for him. Not much really, just see the water was at a good temp. But I worried all night about him. It was with relief to see he was still alive and did not look too bad even though it was obvious he was not up to par. It had been extra hot yesterday too, so I guess cooling the tank down has made a big difference for him.

I am also feeling a whole lot better than I did the last couple of days – the penicillan is doing a great job, and most of the pain has subsided. The trick for me now of course is to fit all the antibiotics in my day. Two different kinds, taken separately, one with food and one without, 6 hrs apart for each. An impossible situation actually, as there is no way I am going to be getting up twice in the middle of the night to take them, which is how it would work. Great if one was in a hospital where the nurses come and wake you
As it was, between the pills and Sid it worried me so much I woke up at 5.30. Eyes half closed I saw the most gorgeous sunrise and groped my way to the computer room for the camera LOL Had to get that pic. The only place for it was through my bedroom window, so it has the screen showing. I am surpised it was even focused as I did not look for my glasses to see what I was doing.

As there was nothing else I could do this early I just went back to bed and slept for a couple more hours

  • Glad to hear that you are feeling better.

  • yes, you need your rest with this tooth illness.

  • Glad you are feeling better.  Love a positive

  • I would be fine with all this hot weather if I could go camping or spend all day on the river. But since I have to work and sleep that is not possible. Thanks for the eprops. Judi

  • @jassmine - you are welcome Judi. Hope they help boost yours towards getting that Lifetime membership here.

  • I’m glad that you are feeling better.  No fun being sick and it always seems worse for me in the summer.

I hope Sid is doing ok.  Poor thing.  When I moved one time I had to leave my Oscar at my parents.  Dad called and said he was getting sick and refused to eat the past couple weeks.  I rushed the 2 hours to get there and when Oscar (yep dumb name but that was his name) seen me he was so excited he soaked the floor.  And he ate like mad.  I took him home with me and had him another 6 years before we lost him.  I loved that fish!!!  He had such a wonderful personality.

I enjoyed my visit at your site.  Feel free to visit me again anytime!  Have a great day!

  • @GrannyHappyNanny - Thank you for comment. It is a delight to see someone other than me can relate to a fish and knows they too have personalities. My daughter got home Sat. night, and so far Sid is still not up to par, so it is a wait and see thing. The family have had her for quite a few years now, and are very attached to her too, so I hope she pulls through whatever it is that has affected her.

  • Hope you are feeling better and this is you last major health problem.

  • What kind of a fish is Sid? My daughter and her husband have a piranha named Chewy.
Where were you born in Central Africa? We were in the Central African Republic, which used to be a part of French Equatorial Africa. The capitol city is Bangui. We never lived there, but did live at Yaloke, Bata, Bossembele and Boguila.

  • I was born in a Copper mining town – Luanshya, in what was at the time Northern Rhodesia, and is now Zambia. We left at the time it was being transferred back to the African from British protectancy(sp?) when I was 26, married and with two children.

  • Good to hear Sid is still hanging on. How is Sid doing now?

I used to have fish, lots of fish tanks. I even had a few salt water tanks and my own feeder tanks for the salt water fish. I’ve had sting rays, lionfish, clown fish, anemone sea urchins, and once I had piranah’s. I’ve had fresh water fish too. The upkeep takes an amazing amount of time. But the peacefulness and serenity from fish is worth every moment of labor.

  • I am so glad it cooled down here. I do not do hot weather well. Judi

  • Hope you feel better soon!

  • Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  May you feel better and heal quickly!!!!
